Ha!

http://wellingtonista.com/

There is a lol contributor on the wellingtonista that wrote about  the re-opened Maranui. Their article was very fun.

I would like to check out the new Maranui. i never had a huge attachment to the place though -  I really liked its situation and food and service was always good, but never felt I totally suited the place - always feeling more at home at its pretentious hippy offshoot Deluxe (mmm sushi roll and oaty slice...). I hope the new version is still around when im an affluent but liberal young mother living out on the coast and needing to fill my day catching up with like-minded friends or gettin' my toddler a fluffy.

How hot u like it?

I cooked a quick packet butter chicken tonight.

Cooking curry, especially BC, at home is kind-of like making cheese on toast - perhaps even with mouldy cheese - at home when you could go and have haloumi steaks and yum toasted bread at Nikau in the City Gal'.

Monterey

Gah! I left newtown without checking this place out. I will have to pretend to be a local when we go there.

Glad to see a good review at wellingtonista.

Sushi for beginners.

I'll tell you what Wgtn needs.

A food and bev' venue that-

solely serves sushi
is BYO
has an interesting and tasteful, DESIGNED interior
is in a ridiculously central location right on the scene.

Where? WHEEE-Eere?? Unless anyone can help me out we may have to theme our new bar proposal sushi-ward! Which is no bad thing.

A date-in-lieu.

Remebering back to a simpler time over summer.

A belated date-in-lieu-of-gift with my best friend. Impromptu, as the best dates are.

I went almost straight from work to The (Courtney) Place.

I reeked of sweat from navy polyester, so many types of Mac's beers and damp cloth. Had a  thirty second change into black lace and chambray denim, sandals and about a litre of YSL Baby Doll. But such an amazing evening. Working at a Cuba Sreet pub had only whetted my appetite to be on the other side of the bar ASAP - but somewhere better. On the Hummingbird side of Courtney the sun was HOT and there was still a glorious amount of time left to look proper wearing sunglasses. An outside table and a glass of Te Whare Ra reis'...

Public holiday charge and it still seemed worth it. An outdoor cafe set up that worked perfectly on that particular day... in that particular season I suppose. But then everything works in Summer, doesn't it? If I can learn to design for a Wellington winters day I will probably be able to design anything.
